Fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
Friendly and energetic restaurateurs.
Simply delicious and truly authentic Mexican food. (Be sure to sample the gorditas!)
Best part of town? Uh, nooooo. (It's old Capitol Hill, for fuck's sake. But you're not there to snatch up real estate, now are you, Pookums?)
One of my favorite hole in the wall restaurants in all of Oklahoma. Seriously.
You owe it to yourself to drop in and spend your hard earned greenbacks on one hell of an incredible meal.
Cash only -- be advised. -

Don't let the exterior fool you. This place had great food and great service. We will be back!

Greatest. Dive. Ever. It's a little hole-in-the-wall. I've been a few times and it's always the same group of women who are kind in greeting, taking care of us, and serve us our delicious meal. The ladies here native language is Spanish (shocker, right) but a few of them speak English, too. Their food tastes homemade in a really fantastic way. I can't wait to go back.
A bit more you may like to know.....
It's a dive so don't expect the Taj Mahal. This TINY spot sits on the corner of SW 26th & Walker. It's about a 10 minute drive from Midtown. It's clean, spotless, really. They have menus available in English and Spanish.
THEY ACCEPT CARDS.
I personally love their quesadillas. I've gotten their asada and chicken. My food has tasted so fresh, the meats are juicy and tender, cooked to perfection. This dish comes with delicious rice and beans, sour cream and some fresh veggies on the side. The food doesn't taste greasy at all.
My dining partner usually gets the steak and shrimp dinner. It's a HUGE plate of delicious food. It comes with tortillas (get the house made corn) along with rice and beans and some fresh veggies and some house made potato chips. I always sneak a few of those from my dining partner's plate-YUM. Shhhh...don't tell. ;-)
Their gorditas are delicious.
Their flavored "aguas" are very good. We've shared the lemonade and I loved it. They serve all their water and other flavored "aguas" drinks in huge steins so you won't leave thirsty. They also have Mexican Coke in the glass bottle.
No liquor here. Great prices. Flavorful food. Everything is cooked to order so it will take a little longer. Patience is a virtue. We had so much food and lunch for the next day, and it was under $30.
We'll be back. Give 'em a chance. Go with an open mind. This is NOT a Tex-Mex spot. It's authentic Mexican cuisine served by women who deeply care about your experience with their food. I'm so glad they are here and their business is a part of our local OKC community.

Update!!!!
Had the trout. Ok. So it's a trout. A real trout. It's kind of looking at you while you are eating it. Take my advice. Put a napkin over its eyes, say a prayer for it, thank it for its sacrifice and EAT IT!!! It isn't breaded but I think it is fried as the skin is just crispy goodness and the flesh underneath is perfectly cooked. Not over done at all which seems a miracle as the skin is almost crunchy! Minimally yet deliciously seasoned. Nice little veggies all around it for a fresh salad. Dooooo it! -

Oh. My. Goodness.
This unassuming little building houses the most amazing Mexican food I have had in Oklahoma City.
We pulled up and realized it is cash only. (Be aware and prepared!) After a quick run to a nearby ATM (there isn't one in the restaurant), we set up inside at a table.
We just took a seat, as there are only a few small tables in a pretty small room. There is outdoor seating during the warmer months.
They bring out a basket of chips and salsa, one red and one green. I am a wimp when it comes to spicy foods, so if you are as well, watch out for the red salsa. It is DELICIOUS and I suffered greatly because I ate a ton of it. But I didn't care.
I ordered four gorditas. They were plenty big and I could have easily ordered only two...but I didn't.
I chose flour instead of corn, and had potatoes con chorizo, red chili pork, chicharrones, and carne asada. Each was unique, the meat was all perfectly flavored and tender, and they were amazing. I could eat these all day, every day.
Overall, we had a fantastic first experience here. The food was incredible, the people that work there are super nice, and overall, it was a really good time.
